It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.Dr. Bartlett's most recent appointent is as a PRODiG+ Fellow at Farmingdale State College where he is applying bioinformatic approaches to cone snail genomics and the venoms (conotoxins) they produce. He teaches General Biology, Introduction to Biology, Medical Microbiology, and Bioinformatics.
At The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Dr. Bartlett served as a graduate data science fellow for Cyberinfrastructure Training to Advance Climate Science (CI-TRACS). The CI-TRACS program aims to build essential CI skills for the Hawaiʻi-Pacific workforce. As a fellow, he helped with the design and implementation of 10 new, cyberinfrastructure workshops for the university community. Dr. Bartlett specialized in data science and bioinformatics, leading campus seminars and developing a dissertation that focused data science tools for: plant genetics and cancer immunogenetics. Lab Manager Extraordinaire
(a.k.a. The Smallest, Loudest Authority in Toxin Science)Rescued from the Hawaiian Humane Society in 2020, Oso, a tenacious chihuahua mix with a comical underbite, has quickly risen through the ranks to become the unofficial-official Lab Manager of the Bartlett Lab.
With a natural gift for sniffing out unattended sandwiches, Oso oversees the lab with a watchful eye and a highly calibrated bark. His main responsibilities include:
Supervising all from the comfort of a well-worn dog bed.
Alerting people to any "high-risk" things (i.e., delivery people, the vacuum cleaner, etc.).
He leads mandatory decompression walks and stress-reduction tail wags.
Dr. Oso enjoys terrorizing squeaky toys and demanding cuddle-based performance reviews.
